100 Firefighters Battle Major Blaze at Shop and Flats on Church Lane in Brent
A large-scale fire has broken out at a shop with flats above on Church Lane in Brent, with around 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines currently on the scene battling to bring the flames under control.
The fire, reported at 2:41pm, has affected:
- A commercial shop unit
- Two upper floors of residential dwellings
- A significant loft conversion
- A range of garages to the rear of the property
Emergency Response
The London Fire Brigade’s Control Office received over 70 calls alerting them to the blaze. Fire crews from Stanmore, Mill Hill, Willesden, West Hampstead, and nearby stations were quickly mobilised.
Public Health and Safety Warning
Station Commander Stephen McGhie, who is at the scene, said:
“We are working tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading to further properties.
Residents in the area are advised to keep their doors and windows shut due to the smoke. We also advise people to avoid the area, as the road is closed in both directions.”
Cause Unknown
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and crews are expected to remain on site for several hours.
There are currently no reports of injuries, and fire investigators will assess the structural damage once the fire is brought under control.
