Massive Fire Erupts at Shop with Flats Above in Brent
Hundreds of Flames Tackled by 100 Firefighters
A huge blaze tore through a shop with residential flats above on Church Lane in Brent this afternoon. Around 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines are battling the flames after the fire was reported at 2:41pm.
The fire has engulfed multiple areas, including:
- The commercial shop unit
- Two upper floors of flats
- A large loft conversion
- Several garages at the rear
Emergency Services Swarm Scene After 70+ Calls
The London Fire Brigade Control Office was inundated with over 70 calls alerting them to the inferno. Fire crews from Stanmore, Mill Hill, Willesden, West Hampstead, and surrounding stations rushed to Church Lane to fight the fire.
Commander Urges Public to Stay Safe
Station Commander Stephen McGhie said: “We are working tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading to further properties.
Residents should keep their doors and windows shut because of the smoke. We also advise everyone to avoid the area entirely, as the road is closed in both directions.”
Cause Unknown, No Injuries Reported
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. Crews expect to remain on site for several hours to fully bring the fire under control.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far. Fire investigators will examine the damaged property once it’s safe to enter.
