One of Brighton’s best-loved shops, Dockerills, will shut its doors for the last time at the end of September. This family-run hardware store, located on Church Street, has been a staple in the North Laine community for decades.
Dockerills is the final store of its kind, with a history dating back to 1915 when Walter Dockerill opened the original shop on Edward Street. In the 1970s, the Dockerill family purchased the Church Street location, where the store has served the community ever since.
