Bembridge lifeboat called to assist with medical evacuation

Bembridge RNLI lifeboat has been called into service to assist with a medical evacuation from a ship in the middle Solent this morning (Monday). The volunteer lifeboat crew was launched just before 10am to cargo ship, that was at anchored in Bay Area if the Island. The crew member had sustained a cut to his head the previous day whilst the ‘Eddystone’ was crossing the Bay of Biscay on her way back from the Falkland Islands. Although the Captain had stitched the wound up he was keen that the crew member be checked over in hospital rather than remain onboard for a further 24 hours when the ship was due to dock at Marchwood. The injuried sailor than made his own way to hospital.
