A 53-year-old man from Brandon has been locked up after trying to dodge police and immigration officers – using fake ID in the process.
Dash and Clash at Takeaway
Ramazan Koksal, of High Street, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on 27 March. He admitted possession of two false identity documents with intent and was slammed with six months behind bars.
Koksal denied assaulting an immigration officer, but that charge was left on file.
The drama unfolded during a joint raid by Suffolk Police and Home Office Immigration Enforcement on 13 February, targeting businesses suspected of exploitation and modern slavery in Brandon and Mildenhall.
Attempted Escape Turns Violent
Officers were checking a takeaway on High Street when Koksal, dressed in dark clothes, tried to slip away to the back and jump into a car.
When an immigration officer tried to stop him by opening the car door, Koksal hit the gas, revving the engine and reversing while the officer clung on.
A taser was deployed, and Koksal was arrested. The officer escaped without injuries.
Penalties Pile Up
- Koksal’s driving licence was hit with eight points for no insurance and three points for driving without a valid licence.
- All his fake ID was ordered destroyed.
- He also faces a £370 confiscation order.
The case sends a clear message: police won’t back down on fake docs, dangerous driving, or dodging the law in Suffolk.
