A daring burglar who struck twice in less than 24 hours across Canterbury has landed behind bars with a hefty prison sentence.
Crime Spree Cut Short
James Henson, 34, kicked off his spree just after 1pm on 4 January 2026 by breaking into a St. Mary’s Street home. When a resident confronted him, he sprinted off.
Not satisfied, Henson was back at it the very next day around 4pm, hitting a property on London Road. He made off with bank and credit cards, a mobile phone, and other valuables.
Police Strike Fast, Nab Thief and Recover Stolen Loot
Police moved quickly, arresting Henson on 6 January after linking him to both burglaries. Investigators seized a haul of stolen goods, including a victim’s laptop.
The thief, from Martyrs’ Field Road, was charged the following day.
Five Years Inside: Justice Served
At Canterbury Crown Court, Henson confessed to two counts of burglary and handling stolen goods. On 11 March, he was sentenced to five years behind bars.
Detective Constable Daniel Moles said: “Henson’s crimes had a big impact on his victims. I’m pleased he’s now off the streets. Everyone deserves to feel safe at home. The sentence reflects how serious his actions were and protects others from his offending.”
“We’re dedicated to tackling crimes like this. When someone reports a break-in, we act fast to catch those responsible and bring them to justice.”
