Junior Taskmaster Set to Win Hearts with Kids and Families
The beloved BAFTA-winning comedy hit Taskmaster is branching out! The family-friendly PG and “Bleeped” versions have boomed in popularity among younger viewers and parents alike. UK schools are loving it too, with the show popping up in classrooms through the School Tasking project and Taskmaster Education’s partnership with children’s mental health charity Place2Be.
Youth Takeover: Meet Junior Taskmaster
Get ready for Junior Taskmaster, an all-new eight-part series featuring kids aged 9 to 11 showing off their cleverness, creativity, and athleticism. These pint-sized competitors will battle it out to prove that genius really knows no age. Hosts for the series are yet to be announced, but excitement is already sky-high.
Creators and Hosts Share Their Thoughts
Alex Horne, creator of Taskmaster, joked: “I’ve seen many comedians flounder with simple instructions, so I fully expect these juniors to be more competent and just as funny. I’ll be handing my assistant’s clipboard to someone just as efficient because I’ve got six more adults to manage. I love bureaucracy, so this is great news.”
Greg Davies, original Taskmaster and star of the show, quipped: “My long-term contempt for young people is well-known, but the team here thinks they have merit. I’m thrilled these two new team members will test that claim on TV. I’ll be watching closely to keep standards high. Also, I’m delighted Alex and I return to test comedians’ intelligence in the most scientific ways. I’ll probably be angry. It’s not even an act anymore.”
Channel 4 Execs Back the Show’s Expansion
Tom Beck, Head of Events at Channel 4, said: “Taskmaster is TV’s funniest, most creative show. We’re ecstatic to have Greg and Alex back for three years and to launch Junior Taskmaster. It promises tons of madcap fun and might just unearth the comedy stars of tomorrow.”
Phil Harris, Head of Entertainment and Live Events, added: “The recent series delivered brilliantly memorable moments. Alex and Greg bringing more of Taskmaster is fantastic. Following the success of our New Year specials, expanding the Taskmaster universe with Junior Taskmaster is incredibly exciting.”
Executive producer Jon Thoday said: “Working with Channel 4 has been a joy. We’re thrilled to continue this brilliant relationship and bring Junior Taskmaster to life.”
