Councillor in the Doghouse after rubbishing elected leader

A prominent Conservative councillor may be facing suspension following his comments about newly elected Conservative Isle of Wight Chair David Pugh. Council Leader Dave Stewart was overheard discussing the possibility of suspension with Chris Whitehouse in a low key and covert early morning meeting today in Newport. The two were heard to be discussing this amongst the state of the party following David Pugh’s recent elevation to Party Chair for the Island – neither councillor seemed too pleased about the appointment, talking amongst other things about his huge failings while Mr Pugh was leader of the council before his very public defeat and humiliation after being dethroned as not only Leader of the Council but also as a Councillor in Shanklin
