Crawley Introduces Night Street Marshals to Enhance Safety

In a bid to bolster safety and support within the town center, Crawley has launched its own team of Night Street Marshals, following successful implementations in Brighton and a recent launch in Eastbourne. Operational during the peak hours of 8 pm to 4 am on Friday and Saturday nights, these marshals will patrol key areas of Crawley Town Centre, providing a visible presence to enhance security.

The initiative, a collaborative effort between local authorities, police, and key partners, including Street Pastors, licensed door staff, and the Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP), aims to create a safer night-time environment for residents and visitors alike. By working in tandem with existing security measures and support services, the Night Street Marshals will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of individuals during the town’s busiest nights.

The primary role of the Street Marshals is to identify and assist those who may be vulnerable, at risk of criminal activity, or in need of medical assistance. They will serve as a vital link between the community and law enforcement, facilitating a swift response to incidents and providing reassurance to those enjoying the night-time economy.

Crawley’s proactive approach to community safety underscores its commitment to fostering a secure and welcoming environment for all. By extending support to individuals in vulnerable situations, the town aims to prevent crime and promote a sense of security among residents and visitors alike.

As Crawley joins other towns in implementing Night Street Marshals, it demonstrates a collective effort to prioritize public safety and well-being, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the vibrant nightlife while feeling protected and supported.
