Hit Police Vehicles Multiple Times
David Shaun Clothier, 45, from no fixed abode, has been locked up after a shocking incident in Fremantle, Southampton On Sunday, 25 January 2026, he sped towards police officers with his car, ramming two marked police vehicles repeatedly. The officers had to jump out of the way as Clothier reversed and charged at them on foot.
Chased and Caught After Ditch Crash
The drama unfolded just before 12.30am when police arrived at a Paynes Road address hunting for a missing person. Clothier, wanted on recall to prison, fled with no headlights on. He tried to escape by reversing his car through thick bushes, but got stuck in a ditch. He then bolted on foot but was caught after a short chase and arrested in Freemantle Lake Park.
18 Months Behind Bars Plus Driving Ban
At Southampton Crown Court on Thursday, 12 March, Clothier pleaded guilty to three counts of assaulting an emergency worker and three counts of criminal damage. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison and banned from driving for 27 months.
