Derisory Sentence for Violent Career Criminal who told court he was Sorry
A violent career criminal, who has blighted the lives of hundreds of Portsmouth residents over the course of a twenty-three year criminal career, is now serving yet another brief stint behind bars. 35-year-old Daniel Storey started his life of crime at the tender age of 12 – and then, alongside his teenage partner in crime Daniel Marsh, was arrested a further 115 times in just 30-months. Storey, of Hendy Close, Southsea, has now chalked up 60 convictions for nearly 150 offences – mainly targeting the elderly, disabled and vulnerable – in his two decade criminal career. In an astonishingly derisory sentence handed down by Judge Patrick Clarkson QC, Storey is now back behind bars for his latest convictions – robbing The Jolly Sailor Southsea in October of last year, a domestic burglar in November, also of last year, and possession of a Class A drug – but is set to serve less than a year of his 22-month sentence. Answering the charges Storey told Portsmouth Crown Court, “People forced me into doing the burglaries. I’m sorry.”
