Two Drug Busts in Middlesbrough

Junaid Walayat, 30, from Trimdon Avenue, Middlesbrough, has been locked up for five years. Police caught him twice carrying suspected Class A drugs during separate arrests in November 2024 and January 2026.

Officers from the Proactive Team spotted him allegedly dealing and found crack cocaine and cocaine on his person. A follow-up search at his home uncovered more suspected crack cocaine hidden in garden boxes, with an estimated street value of over £1,300.

Cash, ‘Burner Phone’ and Messages Link Him to Drug Trade

Police also seized a “burner phone” packed with messages believed to relate to drug activity. When arrested, Walayat had over £540 in cash on him, plus another £975 found at his house.

He was charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine and crack cocaine, as well as possession of criminal property. Today, March 30, 2026, he was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court.

Police Say No Tolerance for Drug Dealers in Middlesbrough

“This is the second time that Junaid Walayat has been found in possession of Class A drugs. Let our message be clear; we won’t tolerate people dealing drugs on the streets of Middlesbrough and we are out there taking action.” – Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Team Inspector Darren Birkett
