Updated:Fire crews called to major blaze in Southampton

Around 50 firefighters are tackling a blaze at a building in the centre of Southampton. The property on Kingsway opposite Hoglands Park is currently under construction. People living nearby are being urged to keep doors and windows closed. St Mary’s Street and A33 Kingsway are both shut following the majirnblaze, which has broken out in an area known as Harrison’s Cut. Ten fire appliances have now been sent to the incident.along with two aerial ladder.platforms from St Marys.and Southsea. A spokesman for fire service said: We are dealing with a fire. involving a timber framed building measuring 40m x 50m. The building is currently under construction. Building is 100% involved by fire. Firefighters are using nine jets, two hosereels and positive pressure ventilation. More to follow
