Massive Fire Erupts at Southampton Building Site – 50 Firefighters Battling Blaze
A huge fire has broken out at a building under construction in the heart of Southampton. Around 50 firefighters have been deployed to tackle the inferno at a property on Kingsway, right opposite Hoglands Park.
Road Closures and Safety Warnings
Nearby residents have been warned to keep doors and windows shut as thick smoke fills the air. Both St Mary’s Street and the A33 Kingsway are closed due to the major blaze in the Harrison’s Cut area.
Firefighters Battle Blazing Timber-Framed Building
Ten fire engines, including two aerial ladder platforms from St Mary’s and Southsea, are on scene. A fire service spokesman confirmed: “We are dealing with a fire involving a timber-framed building measuring 40m by 50m. The building is currently under construction and is fully involved in fire.”
Powerful Tactics Deployed
The firefighting effort includes nine jets, two hose reels, and positive pressure ventilation to control the blaze. Authorities say more updates will follow as the situation develops.
