Fire Crews Put on Full Alert After Distress call from Plane

Fire Crews from across Hampshire rushed to Southampton Airport due to fears over a plane landing. A 70 seater aircraft had been coming into land at Southampton Airport in Eastleigh when it failed to deploy its landing gear. Fire crews from Eastleigh, Hightown, St Marys, Redbridge, Portchester and Cosham where called to support the airport fire service just after 7.20pm on friday evening. The Duty Manager for Eastleigh Airport said: “A 70 seater aircraft was coming in with a hydraulic failure in the landing gear. Fire Crews Put On Full Alert After Distress Call From Plane “The pilot and crew managed to activate the landing gear manually.” The plane landed safely and All of the 66 passengers and 4 crew members were uninjured. Fire crews were stood down just after 8.10pm.
