Fraudsters Target Pensioners in Tunbridge Wells with Fake Police Officer Scams

 

Residents in Tunbridge Wells are being warned to stay vigilant after fraudsters posing as police officers attempted to scam pensioners in the area.
He reminded the public:
“A police officer would never ask for bank details or money over the phone. If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and report it to Kent Police.

Advice to the Public

  • If someone claiming to be a police officer contacts you, take their details and end the call.
  • Wait at least five minutes to ensure the line is clear, then call 101 to verify their identity. In emergencies, dial 999.
  • Never hand over money or items to a courier following such calls.

If you have information about these incidents, contact the West Kent appeals line at 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/8938/25. Alternatively, you can contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or report suspicious activity online at their website.

Kent Police urges everyone to share this warning with elderly relatives, neighbors, and friends to prevent further attempts.
