A man has been charged following a shocking assault on two police officers in West Sussex.
Police Targeted in Middleton
Sussex Police responded to reports of a vehicle blocking the road in Middleton on Sunday evening (March 1) around 6pm. Officers found the driver asleep behind the wheel in Lane End Road.
When they approached, the man launched an attack on the officers, leaving one with a head injury. The injured officer was rushed to the hospital for treatment and checks.
Raimonds Vilde Facing Serious Charges
Raimonds Vilde, 40, from Sycamore Road, Bognor, has been hit with multiple charges. These include drink driving, inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent on a police officer, and assaulting another officer.
He was remanded to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court today (March 3).
Police have condemned the attack and praised their officers for their bravery during the incident.
