Threats and Chaos at Cambridge Church
Mohammed El-Deihi, 34, has been jailed for nearly two years after a terrifying spree of threats and disturbing behaviour in and around Hardwick, near Cambridge. The trouble began in February 2025 when El-Deihi followed a woman on her morning walk and turned aggressive when she confronted him.
Intimidation and Blocking Paths
The nightmare didn’t stop there. Just a month later, El-Deihi blocked another woman’s path, shouting abuse and swearing at her. Locals grew concerned as he started hanging around St Mary’s Church, loitering in doorways and obstructing exits despite repeated pleas from churchgoers to stay away.
Threats to Kill and Public Indecency
Things took a darker turn in June 2025 when El-Deihi flew into a rage after being asked to leave the church and even threatened to kill a man. But it was his shocking act a few months later that sealed his fate. Barefoot and covered in mud, he approached a woman at a bus stop, demanded she “come with me,” and then performed an indecent act despite her protests. He only fled when a passerby stepped in to help.
Conviction and Sentence Delivered
At Peterborough Crown Court on 26 February, El-Deihi—who has no fixed address—pleaded guilty to making threats to kill, two counts of using threatening or abusive behaviour, outraging public decency, and failing to surrender to bail. He was sentenced to one year and ten months behind bars.
