A cold-blooded monster has been locked up for life after suffocating his “kind” ex-girlfriend by wrapping tape around her face, then fleeing the scene.

Horrific Murder in Hampshire Home

Norbert Maiksner, 49, brutally murdered Frances Obiefuleh, 45, inside her Havant home on the evening of April 16 last year.

He made a desperate escape but was spotted wandering along the M40 near High Wycombe the next morning.

When a police officer stopped to help, Maiksner chillingly admitted he had killed Frances and even gave officers her address.

Life Sentence with Minimum 23 Years

At Portsmouth Crown Court, Maiksner was convicted of murder and child cruelty. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 24 years, reduced to 23 years and 22 days for time served.

Court heard how Maiksner suffocated Frances by blocking her airway. A post-mortem confirmed she died after being smothered.

Desperate Final Struggle Revealed in DNA Evidence

Horrifying DNA evidence showed Frances fought desperately for her life. Scratches on Maiksner’s body matched those inflicted by Frances as she tried to defend herself.

Neighbours reported loud bangs from the house around 10pm on the night of the killing. CCTV footage pieced together the killer’s movements before and after the attack.

Abuse and Broken Silence

During police interviews, Maiksner remained silent about the attack despite his roadside confession. Frances had reported Maiksner’s verbal abuse to a man she met on a dating app.

Jane Rahman from the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Frances Obiefuleh’s life was taken in the place she should have felt safest – her own home. A family has now been left heartbroken following a senseless act of violence at the hands of her ex-partner. We will continue to pursue the most serious charges in cases of domestic homicide to secure justice for victims.”

Family Pay Tribute to “Devoted Mother”

Devastated family members described Frances as “kind, intelligent, and resourceful”.

They said: “Someone we love has been cruelly taken from us, and it has changed our lives forever. We have lost a truly beautiful soul.”
