Police have launched a murder investigation after a 26-year-old man was fatally struck in a shocking hit-and-run on Prince’s Street, Doncaster. The incident happened around 8.32pm on Friday, April 10, when a silver Hyundai reportedly hit the pedestrian and then fled the scene.
Five Arrested in Connection with Fatal Collision
Emergency services raced to the scene, rushing the injured man to hospital where he later died. Officers swiftly arrested five people tied to the crime:
- A 30-year-old man and a 22-year-old man – both held on suspicion of murder
- A 20-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman, and a 24-year-old woman – arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders
All five remain in police custody as the investigation continues.
Road Reopens After Police Scene and Witness Appeal
Prince’s Street was closed for hours as officers combed the area for evidence but has now reopened. South Yorkshire Police have urged anyone with dashcam footage or information to come forward.
“We are appealing for witnesses and those with dashcam footage to come forward following the death of a man in a road traffic collision in Doncaster,” said a police spokesperson. “Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the man sadly died at hospital. His family has been informed and is being supported at this time.”
