Jonas Amogbokpa, 55, snatched and raped a woman walking home in Lewisham last August. But now the vile predator has vanished, leaving his trial unfinished and justice on hold.
Absconds After Bombshell Court Testimony
Amogbokpa took the stand at Woolwich Crown Court on February 11 but skipped the critical final days. An insider revealed: “He clearly felt the evidence didn’t go well for him. He didn’t come to court the next day, saying he was ill.”
Police searched his flat, finding the door wide open—but no sign of the rapist. Despite his absence, Amogbokpa was found guilty of rape and kidnapping with intent to commit a sexual offence.
Arrest Warrant Issued as Police Launch Manhunt
A warrant was immediately slapped on Amogbokpa, but he remains out of reach. A source warned, “He wasn’t held on remand, so he slipped through the cracks. The judge called him a danger to the public.”
“He’s still at large. It’s vital the public know this predator is roaming South London, hidden but dangerous,” they added.
Police Plead for Public Help to Nab Fugitive
The Met confirmed: “Enquiries to find him are ongoing.”
Anyone with information is urged to call 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Don’t let this rapist hide any longer.
