Detectives in Wigan have released an image of Scott Higgins, of Kirkhall Lane in Leigh, whom they wish to speak to in connection with a firearms discharge incident on Fisher Close in the town on Saturday, 8 July 2023.
At approximately 10pm on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) received multiple calls reporting the discharge of a suspected firearm at the address. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the police are diligently following up on all leads and lines of enquiry.
Following an appeal on Monday, 10 July 2023, for dashcam footage, doorbell camera footage, CCTV footage, and eyewitness accounts, detectives have decided to release the image of Scott Higgins in an effort to locate him.
Detective Superintendent Simon Hurst of the Wigan District has urged the public, as well as Higgins’ family and friends, to come forward with any information that could help locate him.
Detective Superintendent Hurst stated, “We are actively looking for Scott Higgins, who we believe can assist us with our investigation. We appeal directly to the public, as well as his family and friends, to inform us of his whereabouts. If, during the course of our enquiries, we discover individuals actively aiding Higgins in evading the police, we will consider pursuing criminal charges against them.”
He further added, “If anyone has information about Higgins’ location or any further details regarding this incident, we urge them to contact us immediately on 999 or 101, quoting log number 3918-080723. Alternatively, they can reach out anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Detective Superintendent Hurst emphasised the importance of not approaching Higgins and advised the public to contact the police promptly. He stressed that this was a serious incident, and his team is working tirelessly to locate Higgins.
