Selsey Coastguard’s Swift Response to Ordnance Alert

On 16/03/24 at 11:22, the Selsey Coastguard Team responded to alerts of potential ordnance at Medmerry Beach near Selsey, West Sussex. The team found and documented several ordnance items, establishing a secure perimeter and notifying the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team.

Upon arrival, the EOD team evaluated and safely detonated some items, while others were removed for disposal. Remember, beach-found ordnance can be highly volatile, regardless of size or shape.

Should you encounter any suspicious items on the beach or coastal areas, do not interact with them. Immediately call 999 and request the Coastguard for any coastal or at-sea emergencies.
