This afternoon, Shoreham Fire Crew of the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (WSFRS) were mobilised when a small fire erupted in a home’s reptile enclosure. Fortunately, by the time the firefighters arrived, the blaze had already been extinguished, and the household’s occupants had successfully rescued the enclosure’s sole occupant, a tortoise.
The fire crew promptly ensured the area was safe and took the opportunity to reinforce the importance of fire safety within the home, particularly the necessity of having functioning smoke alarms.
