Firefighters Rush to Reptile Enclosure Blaze in Shoreham

This afternoon, Shoreham’s West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (WSFRS) crew were called out when a small fire broke out in a home’s reptile enclosure. Luckily, the fire had been put out by the time they arrived.

The homeowner had already rescued the enclosure’s only resident – a tortoise – safe and sound.

Fire Crew Urge Homeowners to Stay Alert

The fire team checked the scene to ensure it was safe and used the moment to stress the need for functioning smoke alarms and strong fire safety in the home.

“It’s vital to have working smoke detectors to catch fires early,” the crew reminded residents.
