Travellers descend on Portsmouth City
City Council security chiefs have been placed on high alert after the first members of a large Traveller contingency descend on the city. Travellers are reported to have already caused a public order incident at the Park & Ride in Tipner before moving on to Milton. Sources at PCC have revealed this afternoon that security guards have been dispatched to ten open areas on Portsea Island as up to 70 further Traveller families are en route to the city. It is understood the close-knit Traveller community are heading to Portsmouth to attend the funeral of an extended family member.
