Heatwave Sparks Danger: London Fire Brigade Issues Urgent Warning
The London Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Officers handled more than ten emergency calls about the incident. A spokesperson warned:
“The warmer weather we’ve been having makes the ground extremely dry, which unfortunately means grassland, parks, undergrowth, and woodlands will burn quickly when exposed to even the smallest of sparks.”
They urged the public to avoid barbecues in parks and open spaces and to be vigilant with cigarette disposal and rubbish cleared away. “Glass can magnify the sun and cause a fire,” the brigade added.
