Two brothers from Brent have been locked up for a horrifying Christmas crime. Marius Todoran, 40, and Vasile Todoran, 43, were sentenced at Kingston Crown Court to a combined 18 years for raping a woman after a festive event.

Attack After Christmas Event

The chilling attack happened in December 2023. The victim, a woman in her 40s, left a Christmas party in Queensbury, north-west London, when Vasile Todoran approached her. Despite her desperate attempts to break free, she was forcibly taken to the rented room shared by the brothers, where the assault took place.

Heavy Sentences and Life on Sex Offenders’ Register

  • Marius Todoran received eight years for rape.
  • Vasile Todoran was handed 10 years for rape, kidnapping, and kidnapping with intent to commit a sexual offence.

Both men will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life.

Justice Won After Initial Setback

The case hit a snag last November when a judge ruled no case to answer. But the Met Police and prosecutors fought back, appealing to the Court of Appeal. Their success led to a full retrial and the brothers’ conviction. Detective Sergeant Josh Dwyer praised the victim’s courage, saying:

“She has shown remarkable strength and courage in speaking to police and throughout the investigation and trial. Her testimony was instrumental in ensuring justice was achieved. The impact of this case cannot be undone by today’s sentencing, but we hope that it provides a small amount of closure.”

The investigation relied on CCTV footage, phone data, witness testimony, and urgent forensic evidence to crack the case. The victim expressed her gratitude, saying:

“I don’t think that I would’ve been able to get through this without all police officers’ help and care. I would also like to say to whoever reads this to trust and call the police when something happens to them.”
