In a poignant ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, U.S. President Joe Biden delivered a fervent appeal for the defence of freedom and democracy. Addressing Western powers, he urged unwavering support for Ukraine in its struggle against Russian tyranny.
Joined by French President Emmanuel Macron and U.S. veterans at the Normandy American Cemetery, President Biden emphasised the imperative of collective action, declaring it “simply unthinkable” to capitulate to Russian aggression. He vowed that U.S. support for Ukraine would not wane, stressing the critical need for Western and NATO allies to recapture the cooperative spirit that characterised D-Day.
