Canadian Power Crews Head South to Assist with Hurricane Helene Recovery

A convoy of more than a dozen Canadian power trucks is making its way south through the U.S., heading to areas impacted by Hurricane Helene. Earlier today, the trucks were seen travelling along I-81 in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, on their way to North Carolina and Florida.

The crews, originating from New Brunswick, Canada, are expected to assist in power restoration efforts following the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, which has left millions without power across the southeastern United States. A worker from the convoy mentioned at a stop at Love’s Travel Stop that their mission is to help communities in need, starting in North Carolina before moving on to Florida.

Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida as a Category 4 storm, leaving widespread damage and causing massive power outages throughout the region. As of now, more than 2.2 million people across Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas remain without power, with authorities warning that some areas could experience outages for up to a week.

The Canadian crews are part of a larger effort of mutual aid, as utility companies from across the United States and Canada deploy resources to help restore power as quickly as possible. The sight of the convoy has been a reassuring symbol of support for many as recovery efforts continue in the hurricane-stricken areas.

Residents in affected areas have been advised to remain patient as power restoration efforts are underway, with crews working around the clock to address the extensive damage caused by Helene. The arrival of additional support from Canada is expected to accelerate the process, bringing much-needed relief to communities still struggling in the aftermath of the storm.
