Sussex Police Warn: Stay Home This Weekend Despite Sunshine
With the weekend set to bring soaring temperatures, Sussex Police is pleading with the public to stay put and protect the NHS. Only essential travel is allowed, they stress.
Brighton and Hove Divisional Commander Nick May said: “We get it, everyone wants to enjoy the nice weather. But please, use your common sense and stick to government rules – these are in place to save lives and keep the NHS afloat.”
No Day Trips or Beach Visits – Stay Local!
Commander May warned against travelling to busy spots like beaches or parks in neighbouring towns. “Heading to crowded areas puts you and others at serious risk. Exercise is allowed once a day but only from your home while social distancing.”
Police Ready to Enforce Rules
Officers will patrol public spaces as usual. They’ll engage and encourage compliance but aren’t afraid to take action against rule-breakers. “We know it’s frustrating and sacrifices are tough, but sticking to the guidelines saves lives,” said May.
Stick to These Government Rules
The government says you should only leave home for:
- Shopping for essentials like food and medicine
- One form of exercise daily, eg running, walking, or cycling, alone or with household members
- Medical reasons, including donating blood or caring for vulnerable people
- Work travel only if you cannot work from home
The key message: stay home, avoid contact, and stop Covid-19 in its tracks. Sussex Police thank everyone for their patience during these testing times.
