In an unprecedented move blending British food culture with celebrity status, Greggs’ iconic Sausage Roll is set to be unveiled at Madame Tussauds London in celebration of National Sausage Roll Day on Wednesday 5 June 2025.
The handcrafted wax replica will be displayed alongside national icons such as Sir David Attenborough, Stormzy, and William Shakespeare in the museum’s Culture Capital Zone, making it the first food item ever to receive the celebrity wax treatment at the famed attraction.
A First for Food
Madame Tussauds artists spent “numerous hours” meticulously replicating the golden-brown puff pastry and sausage filling in lifelike detail. According to Studio Manager Jo Kinsey, capturing the much-loved snack was taken just as seriously as creating figures of A-list celebrities.
“The Greggs Sausage Roll is synonymous with British culture – we just had to put it in our Culture Zone,” Kinsey explained.
“It’s a history-making feat, and we can’t wait for guests to be stopped in their tracks by a life-like sausage roll – just in time for National Sausage Roll Day.”
Greggs CEO Reacts to “Surreal” Honour
Reacting to the announcement, Greggs CEO Roisin Currie said the moment was “both proud and slightly surreal”:
“We’re thrilled that Madame Tussauds London has chosen to honour the Greggs Sausage Roll in such a unique and iconic way.
It’s a true celebration of a national favourite and a fitting tribute to its place in the hearts – and stomachs – of the nation.”
Public Display Begins June 5
Visitors to Madame Tussauds London will be able to see the one-of-a-kind wax sausage roll from Thursday, June 5, the same day that marks the UK’s official National Sausage Roll Day – a celebration of all things golden, flaky and delicious.
