Heinz Discontinues Popular Ploughman’s Pickle, Leaving Fans Furious

Heinz has officially discontinued one of its most popular condiments, leaving many shoppers fuming online. The American company, known worldwide for its wide selection of sauces, condiments, and foods, confirmed that its Ploughman’s Pickle has been permanently shelved.

Heinz, which offers beloved products such as ketchup and mayonnaise, catered to a wide range of palates until now. The discontinuation of Ploughman’s Pickle has sparked frustration among loyal fans, particularly those who valued the product for being gluten-free.

A fan took to X (formerly Twitter) to express disappointment: “I am trying to buy Heinz Ploughman’s Pickle but can’t buy it anywhere. Has it been discontinued? I like it ’cause it’s gluten-free.”

Heinz responded: “Thanks for your message. Sorry to say but this product has now been discontinued.” The shopper, saddened by the response, replied: “Oh no! It was great & gluten-free, so great for us coeliacs.”

The news has not gone down well, with the X platform filled with outraged comments from fans. One user questioned: “Why is Ploughman’s Pickle unavailable in the East Sussex area?” Heinz confirmed again: “Unfortunately we no longer produce Ploughman’s Pickle.

Another angry fan wrote: “By far the best pickle for any occasion and use.” Meanwhile, a third commented: “The thing I really like about this is that it’s gluten-free (or at least I don’t react to it, unlike Branston).” Someone else added: “Far better than Branston.”

The condiment’s popularity stemmed not just from its taste but also from its suitability for people with gluten sensitivities, which made it a favourite for coeliacs.

Heinz’s Ploughman’s Pickle was a staple for many, known for its chunky texture and rich flavour. An online product description read: “Heinz started making pickles in the 1860s and introduced the world to the first-ever sweet pickles in 1876. With over 150 years of pickling experience, no one knows pickles better than us. Our chunky Heinz Ploughman’s Pickle is bursting with classic, irresistible flavour. Made with only quality ingredients, this pickle is perfect for livening up a mature cheese sandwich or to add a quick kick to a jacket potato.

The pickle was part of a wider range that included other popular products like Piccalilli Pickle, Mustard Pickle, and Sandwich Pickle.

With Heinz Ploughman’s Pickle now discontinued, fans are lamenting the loss of a beloved condiment that had become a trusted favourite for years.
