Metropolitan Police Officer Accused of Grooming Found Dead in Romford Park

In a tragic turn of events, Ryan Gadsden, a Metropolitan Police officer under investigation for grooming accusations, was found dead in a park in Romford. The 23-year-old officer’s body was discovered by dog walkers on September 25. His death is currently not being treated as suspicious.

PC Gadsden, who was suspended from duty at the time of his death, had been arrested in March following allegations related to his conduct. The investigation was initiated after a complaint was made by a young female cadet whom Gadsden was supervising. Further allegations emerged, including claims that Gadsden had given a gift to another young female recruit.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) was overseeing the investigation into these allegations. Following the discovery of his body in Romford, an inquest is scheduled to take place next year to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

The Metropolitan Police have released a statement acknowledging the incident, noting that Gadsden’s death was unexpected but not suspicious. They also confirmed that Gadsden was on suspension at the time of his death and that his family is being supported by officers during this difficult time. A mandatory referral to the IOPC was made due to the police’s prior contact with Gadsden.

A spokesperson for the IOPC expressed condolences to those affected by the officer’s death and stated that it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.

This incident has raised concerns within the community and the police force, highlighting the sensitive nature of the allegations and the subsequent tragic outcome. The Metropolitan Police and the IOPC are expected to continue their inquiries into the matter, ensuring a thorough investigation is conducted.
