The explosion killed a well-known Russian military blogger named Vladlen Tatarsky.

The blast was caused by a bomb hidden in a statue presented to Tatarsky in a gift box. Tatarsky, also known as Maxim Fomin, was a prominent military blogger with over 560,000 followers on Telegram and was critical of Russia’s involvement in the war in Ukraine.
