Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.
The 32-year-old Ghanaian international is accused of carrying out the offences between 2021 and 2022, involving three separate women.
Statement from Met Police
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the case, said:
“Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward.
We would ask anyone who has been impacted by this case, or who has information, to speak with our team.”
Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact police via [email protected].
Partey’s Future at Arsenal in Question
Partey, who joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in 2020 for £45 million, has made 167 appearances for the club. His contract expires this month, and talks over an extension are believed to have broken down prior to the charges being filed.
The club has not yet issued an official statement regarding the charges or his future.
