Man, 26, Shot Dead in Camden: Murder Probe Launched

A 26-year-old man was fatally shot in Camden late Saturday night, sparking a murder investigation, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.

Officers rushed to Chalton Street around 11pm on March 28 after reports of gunfire. Emergency services found the victim inside a white Nissan Juke suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Despite frantic efforts by police and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Victim Identified as Nahom Medhanie

Following a post-mortem on March 31, police have officially named the victim as Nahom Medhanie.

“Nahom was more than a son and a brother to us and since his passing it has been the hardest days of our lives. He was funny, honest and would just light up the room with his presence and that’s what we loved most about him.”

His family, supported by specially trained officers, have urged for privacy as they grieve.

CCTV Shows Suspect Fled by Bike

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the hunt. Early CCTV footage shows Nahom sitting in his car when he was shot multiple times. Police say the gunman arrived and escaped the scene on a bicycle.

No arrests have been made yet as the investigation continues.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Officers are urging anyone who saw the shooting or has dashcam footage of the area to come forward. Contact police on 101, quoting CAD 8032/28MAR. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or use the Major Incident Public Portal.

London’s Rising Murder Toll Sparks Concern
