Aviva cited concerns for the “safety of our people at the event” as the primary reason for their withdrawal. A spokesperson from Aviva expressed regret over the decision, emphasizing the company’s ongoing commitment to the Pride agenda and inclusivity within the workplace: “This is very disappointing but we remain committed to the Pride agenda and, together with our Pride Community, will continue the important work we do at Aviva to make our workplace even more inclusive.
Norwich Pride has acknowledged the termination of their contract with Aviva on their official website but declined to comment further. Meanwhile, Norwich Trans Pride expressed relief and approval of the decision in a Facebook statement, appreciating that their concerns were acknowledged and acted upon by Norwich Pride organizers.
