A vehicle barreled into a crowd during Christmas event preparations in Sainte-Anne, Guadeloupe, killing at least 10 people and injuring nine. The nightmare unfolded on Friday in the French overseas territory’s Schoelcher Square, right by the town hall and church.

Tragedy Strikes Amid Festive Cheer

The festive buzz turned into horror as residents packed the square to get ready for Christmas celebrations. Instead, they faced terror when the car smashed into the packed crowd.

Three victims remain in critical condition. The driver stayed at the scene, but the motive or cause is still unclear. Some witnesses suggest the driver may have suffered a medical episode behind the wheel, though authorities have yet to confirm this.

Emergency Crews Rush to Scene

Firefighters, paramedics, and police sprang into action immediately, treating the wounded and securing the area. The high number of casualties highlights how crowded the square had been, with families and children all around.
