Man Found Guilty of Murdering Police Officer in 2005-Armed Robbery

Piran Ditta Khan, a 75-year-old man, has been found guilty of the murder of Police Constable Sharon Beshenivsky. The tragic incident occurred almost two decades ago during an armed robbery in Bradford on November 18, 2005.

PC Sharon Beshenivsky, a dedicated 38-year-old officer with West Yorkshire Police, was responding to a robbery at a travel agency in the city centre. Tragically, it was her youngest daughter’s fourth birthday. As she arrived at the scene, she was gunned down at close range. Her injuries were instantly fatal, leaving her lifeless on the pavement.

Khan, who had been evading justice for years, was finally extradited from Pakistan last year. He was the last of seven men involved in the robbery to face trial. While he had previously admitted to the robbery, he vehemently denied any involvement in PC Beshenivsky’s murder.

During the robbery, three armed men stormed the travel agency, fleeing with approximately £5,400 in cash. PC Teresa Milburn, another officer at the scene, was also seriously injured after being shot by one of the gunmen.
