A security alert has been triggered this afternoon at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kensington Palace Gardens, London, following the discovery of a suspect white powder package, prompting a rapid response from emergency services and counterterrorism units from the Met Police, London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade.
The incident was reported at around 1pm on Monday, April 14, at the embassy located in Kensington Palace Gardens.
Sources reveal Initial alerts identified the item as a “suspect package – white powder”.
Specialist officers, including hazardous materials teams, have been deployed as part of the response. The surrounding area remains under heightened security, though no public evacuation has been reported at this stage.
As of now, no injuries have been reported, and no confirmation has been made as to whether the powder is harmful or part of a hoax. The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command is expected to be informed due to the diplomatic nature of the site and the involvement of a foreign embassy.
Diplomatic Sensitivity
The Russian Embassy in London has not yet issued a public statement. Due to the location being within the exclusive and high-security Kensington Palace Gardens area—home to several diplomatic missions and royal residences—any incident here is treated with elevated caution.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
We have reached out to the Met Police for a statement.
