Southampton Man Arrested After Threatening Tweet About Blowing Up Children at Fratton Park
Hampshire Police have arrested a 22-year-old man from Shirley, Southampton following a disturbing Tweet posted earlier today that referenced blowing up children at Fratton Park, the home ground of Portsmouth FC.
The Tweet, shared at 2:07pm from the now-deleted Twitter account of Jack Jameson, a known Southampton football hooligan, stated:
“Love to let a bomb off in the family section of Fratton Park watch all the kids blow up.”
Immediate Public Backlash and Police Action
The post quickly went viral, drawing widespread condemnation from both Southampton and Portsmouth football communities. Within hours, Jameson’s Twitter profile was made private and later deleted entirely. Hampshire Constabulary received multiple reports from concerned members of the public and launched an immediate investigation.
A Hampshire Police spokeswoman said:
“We received various reports regarding a comment made on the Twitter social networking site at 2.07pm this afternoon. A 22-year-old man from Shirley in Southampton has been arrested and is currently helping officers with their inquiries.”
History of Football-Related Offences
Jack Jameson, of English Road, Southampton, has a well-documented history of football violence. In February last year, he was issued a four-year football banning order by Southampton Magistrates’ Court for leading a riot ahead of Southampton’s Europa League clash with Dutch side Vitesse in 2015. He had also received a three-year banning order in Bristol in 2010, aged just 16.
