A blazing fire tore through a 16th-floor studio flat at Croydon’s Saffron Square, sparking a heart-stopping rescue.
Firefighters Race to High-Rise Inferno
On March 7, five fire engines and around 25 firefighters swarmed the scene after flames erupted in the tower block flat. Their lightning-fast response stopped what could have been a devastating disaster in the high-rise.
Woman Flees Flaming Flat Just in Time
The flat’s female occupant escaped the blaze before firefighters arrived. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service treated her on site.
“Five fire engines and around 25 firefighters responded to a fire on Saffron Square, Croydon,” a London Fire Brigade spokesperson said. “The fire occurred in a studio flat on the 16th floor. The woman left the flat before the Brigade arrived and was treated on scene by paramedics.”
