Taxi Driver Threatened with Knife

Matthew Lycett, 28, allegedly held a knife to a taxi driver’s throat before snatching cash in Maidstone Road, Chatham. The victim, a man in his 50s, was threatened at around 11pm on Friday, 13 August 2021.

Quick Arrest After Crime Squad Probe

The Chief Constable’s Crime Squad sprang into action. They arrested Lycett on suspicion of robbery and possessing a knife in a public place just four days later, on Tuesday, 17 August.

Charged and Remanded to Court

The Mercian Road resident now faces two serious charges. He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on 18 August.
