Hugh Dennis Unlocks UK’s Biggest and Bizarre Homes in New Show

Inside Britain’s Gigantic Cribs

Comedian Hugh Dennis is getting up close and personal with some of the UK’s most colossal homes in the new series Large Houses with Hugh Dennis. From the stunning Broughton Hall — complete with its own private railway — to a jaw-dropping island fortress off the coast of West Wales, Hugh explores it all.

Over four episodes, Hugh tours these mammoth residences, meets their eccentric owners, and shares the fascinating stories behind each property. He even rolls up his sleeves to help with huge chores like cleaning chandeliers and enduring a marathon six-hour hoovering session to keep these palatial homes in shape.

Holiday Showdown: Strangers Battle for Best Vacation

Meanwhile, the new daytime show Strangers on a Plane turns five Brits into holiday rivals. Jetting off to the same hot spot for a five-day trip, each traveller takes the reins for 24 hours to plan the perfect day for the group.

They decide where to stay, where to eat, what activities to do, and what evening entertainment to enjoy — all within a set budget. But overspending could turn their dream holiday into a nightmare. At week’s end, the group votes for the best day planner. The winner bags an extra week in the sun, bringing along a friend or family member for the ride.

Channel 4’s Exciting New Commissions

“I’m thrilled to have commissioned two hugely entertaining series from the team at Strawberry Blond,” said Channel 4 commissioning executive Gill Brown. “Hugh Dennis is the perfect guide for this eclectic mix of fantastic, gigantic homes that our More4 viewers will love. And Strangers on a Plane promises to be a wild, raucous delight in daytime TV. I can’t wait to see what our visitors get up to.”
