Man Arrested After Brazen Bootle Shooting

Police swooped this afternoon (Friday 21 June) after a dramatic shooting rocked Bootle on Wednesday night.

Shots Fired at Hawthorne Road

At around 10pm, two gunshots were fired towards a group of people on Hawthorne Road, near the junctions with Earl Road and Sussex Street. Eyewitnesses say two men on a motorbike pulled up before one jumped off and opened fire.

No Injuries, But Damage at Local Shops

Miraculously, no one was hurt. The suspects sped off south down Hawthorne Road towards Kirkdale. Police later found damage to two shop windows – at Betfred bookmakers and Best One – consistent with gunfire.

Suspect in Custody

A 31-year-old man was arrested today on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a Section 1 firearm. He is currently being questioned at a police station.
