Greencore Group has launched an urgent recall of a range of sandwiches, wraps, and salads amid concerns over possible contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). While no E. coli has been detected in these products, the recall is a precautionary move to keep consumers safe.

The recall hits products stocked by big-name retailers including Aldi, Amazon, Asda, Boots, Co-op, Morrisons, and Sainsbury’s. Use-by dates are up to and including June 16, 2024, with some extending to June 17, 2024.

Why the Recall? The Health Risks

STEC can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhoea, and vomiting. Worst-case scenario? Haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a life-threatening condition leading to kidney failure. Authorities stress the recall is a precaution to prevent any potential health hazards.

What You Should Do Now

Greencore Group is actively recalling these items and warning customers through in-store notices. If you’ve bought any of the affected products, do not eat them. Return them to the retailer for a full refund immediately.
