Man Dies in Hotel Suicide Using Poisonous Chemicals

A young man’s tragic suicide using toxic chemicals forced a full evacuation at a Premier Inn on Staines Road West yesterday afternoon.

Around 3pm on Thursday 28th October, emergency services rushed to the Premier Inn after reports of a suicide attempt involving chemicals. They discovered the man, believed to be in his early 20s, dead inside a hotel room.

A police source confirmed the death is being treated as a suicide as officers continue their investigation.

Emergency Evacuation and Hazardous Materials Response

Guests and staff were swiftly evacuated from the hotel while hazardous materials teams from the fire service sprang into action. They set up a decontamination zone to tackle the unknown chemical involved.

Tests identified the substance as likely a sodium nitrite-based product. The fire service shared results with Surrey Police, who are now working closely with the coroner.

Coroner Prepares Inquest

Police are compiling a file for the coroner, with an inquest expected to be opened soon to examine the circumstances surrounding the death.
