Kurt Zouma and Brother Face Charges Over Shocking Cat Abuse Footage

RSPCA Charges Zouma Brothers Over Animal Cruelty

Kurt Zouma was caught on camera kicking and slapping one of his pet cats, sparking outrage when the footage went viral in February. The RSPCA immediately stepped in, taking both of the footballer’s cats into their care the same month. Now, after a thorough investigation, the animal charity has launched a prosecution against Kurt and his brother Yoan Zouma under the Animal Welfare Act.

A statement from the RSPCA confirmed: “Following a full and thorough investigation, we have started the process of bringing a prosecution against Kurt Zouma and Yoan Zouma under the Animal Welfare Act. The two cats continue to be cared for by the RSPCA. We will be in a position to release more information once a court date is confirmed.”

Football Fallout: Clubs Take Action

Yoan Zouma’s club, Dagenham, suspended the midfielder last month after revealing he was responsible for filming the disturbing video. The National League side later announced Yoan could return to the squad, warning that further suspension might harm both player and club. They reserved the right to act again after the court case concludes.

West Ham, where Kurt plays, slapped him with the maximum fine when the incident first emerged. Despite public fury and a Change.org petition demanding prosecution, boss David Moyes has continued to select Kurt when he is fit. The Hammers emphasised in a statement: “Kurt continues to co-operate fully, supported by the club. It is our understanding that Kurt’s cats have been checked by a vet, are in good health and have suffered no physical injuries. For legal reasons, neither Kurt nor the club will be making any further comment at this time.”

Public Outcry and Next Steps

The brutal footage and details from the RSPCA left fans and animal lovers horrified. The charity described the video as “very upsetting” and called for justice. West Ham have pledged full cooperation with the RSPCA investigation, as the legal process now unfolds.
