A drug dealer was caught red-handed asleep in bed after a long, painstaking police probe. Now he’s been behind bars for more than five years.
Operation Raptor Cracks Brentwood Drug Line
Raymond Nafrah, 34, ran a drug line with his brother Emmanuel, 31, and deputy Jake Sultana, 32. The trio was nailed by the dedicated anti-drugs squad, Operation Raptor, after months of investigation into their Brentwood operation. The gang exploited a vulnerable drug user, using his home to stash and prep drugs—trying to keep themselves out of the police’s reach.
Caught Napping: Phones, Drugs, and Knuckleduster Seized
On 1 March 2023, cops raided Nafrah’s home. They found Raymond asleep, chilling to music, lying on two mobile phones—one being the drugs hotline. Drug prep gear and a knuckleduster were also seized. Further digging revealed Raymond had banked enough cash from the drugs trade to fund luxury trips abroad. When he jetted off in May 2022, Sultana took over the drug line, running the show in Raymond’s absence.
Deputy Threatens Staff and Exploits Addiction
Evidence showed Sultana sent chilling messages, threatening to “slap” staff who messed up and promising cash waiting for Raymond on his return. He coldly talked about using a vulnerable addict’s dependence to “make him suffer.” Police arrested Sultana a year later, finding multiple phones and around £1,700 in fake cash at his home.
Three Men Jailed After Trial
Raymond and Emmanuel Nafrah, plus Jake Sultana, were convicted of supplying heroin and crack cocaine. Emmanuel also faced charges for possession with intent to supply cocaine. Sultana admitted to supplying cannabis. At Basildon Crown Court on Monday 13 April, sentences were handed down:
- Raymond Nafrah: 5 years 1 month imprisonment
- Emmanuel Nafrah: 3 years imprisonment
- Jake Sultana: 4 years 5 months imprisonment
